The Busy Body Book

The Busy Body Book Rating: The Busy Body Book

A Kid's Guide to Fitness

by Lizzy Rockwell

Reading Level: Ages 4-8

It shouldn't be news to parents that more and more kids are overweight and inactive. Instead of playing soccer, football, baseball, or other more unorganized activities, today's kids spend too much time playing video games and watching TV.

How can you get your kids to be more healthy and active?

In addition to making physical activity a family affair, it can help to start early and teach your children the importance of eating well and being physically active.

The Busy Body Book is a great resource for parents to use to teach kids about their bodies, physical fitness, and being healthy.

Wonderfully illustrated, this children's book does a nice job of explaining to kids how their bodies work. This helps to hold their interest as they learn about fitness and also learn about their bones and skeleton, muscles, brain and nerves, lungs, heart and blood vessels, and their stomach and intestines.

Most importantly, by learning about how their body works, they also learn why eating healthy and being physically active is important. They learn that eating Energy Foods, Bone-Building Foods, and Muscle-Building Foods and drinking water helps to make your body go. Add in regular exercise, rest and a good night's sleep and you have a body that will stay 'strong, healthy, and happy.'

In addition to all of the helpful information, The Busy Body Book was the first book that we have read that actually got by step-son to be more active while we were reading it. When reading about all of the 'ways to be a busy body', he wanted to demonstrate each activity by pretending he was playing football, flying a kite, and roller skating.

We really enjoyed this book and it would be helpful for all parents who want to get an early start on teaching their kids about being healthy and active.
