| Having a stuffy nose or occasionally sneezing is very common in preschool children and is usually caused by irritation from dry air, smoke, or dust. Try to eliminate common irritants. You can also try using a humidifier.
The most common cause of a runny nose, especially if it is yellow or green, is probably having an upper respiratory infection, usually caused by a cold virus.
Children with hay fever, or allergic rhinitis will frequently have a clear runny nose that is itchy, sneezing and cough. See the allergy treatment guide for more information.
