Varicocele
A varicocele is a painless dilation of the veins that can occur in an older boy's testicle and is sometimes described as feeling like a bag of worms. It is most common on the left side, but can occur on both sides. This problem is usually noted on a teenagers routine physical exam and it is fairly common. Rarely, a varicocele can cause decreased testicular growth and problems with sperm production and will require treatment from a urologist. Your teen with a varicocele will be monitored closely for the development of any problems.
